Progress Report: Week 33

While I'm still as busy as last month, I have found lately that I have been disappointed with my progress not from lack of time, but rather due to lack in initiative.  I feel like I have been slacking off lately.  I realize that I need to now account for 'free' time--- time to relax and watch TV, read a book or magazine, or similar . . . because I will do these things either way.  But I also need to be mindful of working on my goals throughout the week.  I've fallen into the habit of thinking I will catch up on all my goals on the weekend.  Of course when the weekend comes around there is never enough time to do everything!  Last week I made a point to try to accomplish some things earlier in the week!  This made me feel great!  I felt productive and it also alleviated some of the pressure on my free time on Friday night through Sunday!

Progress Report: Week 29

My MA program has taken up a lot of my time this month.  I have felt like I haven't had time for a lot of my personal projects because I have been spending a lot of time doing research and reading for my program.  I have been feeling a little demoralized about it.  Also I scheduled a few too many social activities for this month I think (but they were all worth it!).  I hope I get get back on track with at least a few things.  Let's see how I did . . .

1. Get passport & travel to Canada - No Progress

2. Take a dance class (not ballet) - PROGRESS
I have been going to my hip hop class for a 3-4 weeks now.  I am still pretty terrible, but I have improved so much!  I pretty much have been able to follow the routines for the last two classes!

3.  Find a new doctor - No Progress

4.  Make a short film - No progress.
This is something I really want to get back on track with.

Progress Report: Week 26

It's been one month into the new year.  I've been trying to stay focused on accomplishing my goals.  I think I've been doing better at some, I'd like to keep doing better but it's important to acknowledge work well done too.

1. Get passport & travel to Canada - No Progress

2. Take a dance class (not ballet) - TINY PROGRESS
I signed up for another hiphop dance class.  First class it today!

3.  Find a new doctor - No Progress

4.  Make a short film - TINY PROGRESS
I have so many ideas for short films all of a sudden.  A few are really simple, a few more complicated.  I have a script that I'd like to produce.  I also bought a book on producing to help me think about how to approach this . . . but of course this is just triggering a million more questions I want to ask people for advice.

5.  Make an anthology of my Grandma's poems & writings - TINY PROGRESS
I have made a comprehensive list of all the poems I have.  I need to start thinking about ordering them, synchronizing a few that I have multiple versions of, and deciding what to do with a few that seem unfinished.

6.  Read 5 of these intellectual/feminist books: The Second Sex, Lean In, To the Light House, The Beauty Myth, Reverence to Rape, Sister Outsider, How to Be a Woman, Americanah - No Progress

7.  Learn to do a Tarot reading - TINY PROGRESS
In January I was trying to practice every day but it ended up being more like a few times a week.

Progress Report: Week 24

Two weeks into the New Year!  I have been using my new workbooks and steadily getting things done so far.  I don't always get the things done on the day I schedule them, but they get done within a few days usually.  Let's see how they measure up with my 27 goals (I decided on the 27th goal!).

1. Get passport & travel to Canada - No Progress

2. Take a dance class (not ballet) - No Progress
I forgot about this.  I'll have to work on that this week!

3.  Find a new doctor - No Progress

Progress Report: Week 22

It's New Years! I thought I'd better check in with my goals and see how I'm doing so that I can get planning for the brand new year.  I got two planning workbooks from friends this year to help me stay on top of goals and track my progress.  Funnily, until I started working with them these last two weeks, I didn't occur to me to actually schedule deadlines, benchmarks etc for my goals into the literal calendar . . . but now that these books have suggested it, it seems like a great next step to make these things a reality!  Time to get down to planning . . .

1. Get passport & travel to Canada - No Progress

2. Take a dance class (not ballet) - No Progress
I am going to try to sign up for another dance class for the spring since I missed so much of my dance class in the fall.

Progress Report: Week 20

It's been a long time since I've updated this.  The longer I was away from looking at this list, the more nervous I was about looking at it---- because I knew I'd see how little I'd done to move towards these goals.  But the New Year is approaching and it seems like a good time to renew resolutions.

In November, I tried to do NaNoWriMo.  I only made it about 9 days.  It was really difficult.  But it was an interesting learning experience.  I think the word count per day was too large for me to handle.  To make the word count I need about 3 hours a day for writing, and it was too exhausting for me.  I couldn't keep it up for a full month.  Traveling also got in the way.
