I've always like the simplicity of a lot of fashion drawing that feature a simple silhouette, a flourish of a garment or gown, usually with a cloudy splashes of color. It is simultaneously simplistic, almost bare-bones, yet beautiful, glamourous and ornate! So I tried the simple silhouette of the face, with some bright (brighter than this scan allows) red hair.

My latest in messing around with make-up.

In the Papier: Doctor Who Postcards!
A total impulse buy, but how could I not? Doctor Who postcards? Heaven!
Barnes & Noble is currently cleverly featuring a little Doctor Who table in their stores around here. So after two visits of resistance, I succumbed on the third trip. The postcards (set of 100!) come in a a TARDIS box, so even after all the postcards are gone I will still have something cool!
Most of the cards are stills from the recent season, or promotional photos (a few with a little too much airbrushing & photoshopping methinks), but I've gone through a selected some of my favorites, which often have to coolest design!

I will always want a 'Vote Saxon' poster. I can put it on my wall on which I'm having some local hoodlums spray paint 'Bad Wolf.' |
The Adispose are so cute! They are one of my favorite of the recent monsters, along with the Judoon. |
One of the most beautiful images to come from Doctor Who recently. I super chuffed to have a copy; the original should be worth millions! |
Ahh! The cybermen! They are pretty freaky and ominous. |
There is one that says "Delete Delete Delete etc." too. |
And duh. Don't blink. |

Come on Get Crafty: the Gala
I cut this out out of the newspaper. I think it was part of an ad for the McQueen exhibit at the Costume Institute and the Met Ball. I've always been a little taken with the Met Ball. It seems so classy and highbrow--- and combined with the McQueen exhibit, the whole thing rather fascinated me that year.
But despite the beautiful simplicity of the dress which the ad let speak for itself, I couldn't help but jazz it up a bit. I like to think it's just an expression of the excitment and frivolity of such a fancy party!
P.S. I also think one of the shapes looks just like a roster's head. Can you find it?

Music this week: Ben Howard
I'm going to be doing some driving this weekend so I'm looking for some good tunes to listen to on the road. The BBCAmerica blog recently did a post on the new sounds from London so I took a look. Something reminded me that I've been missing Mumford & Sons recently, but I think Ben Howard is going to hold their place for a while.
I was instantly won over by his beautiful cover of "Call Me Maybe."
Current other favorites are:
The Wolves
Keep Your Head Up
