Golden Globes 2015, Yawnsville Fashion

I found this year's Golden Globe awards to be much more boring than ever before.  The show ran long which means we likely lost a lot of funny material from the hosts.  There were some great feminist moments, but otherwise things were pretty dull.

Most dull of all was the fashion!  Usually one can rely on that to at least keep things interesting.  In my opinion, everyone wore things that were appropriate for the occasion but nearly none of them were fun, interesting, stunning, edgy, creative, or daring.

Best Dressed

Sienna was hands down the best-dressed of the evening.  She may have even been the only person whose dress I looked at twice.  Her presentation was late into the show, but I'm glad someone finally brought the fashion!

I didn't see Lorde during the show, but judging from the pictures, she brought a strong outfit.  Pants and a crop top!  Paired with a cut and edgy jewelry that keep with the singer's personality and style.

Also, how fabulous does Kristen Wigg look?!!  Her dress looks great on her, fits the occasion, but still has that dash of uniqueness.  And Gina Rodriguez (WINNER) shows us all how to do the red carpet right!  She takes a relatively safe gown in black, but one that has a fun and beautiful fringe hem.

Honorable Mention

Lupita did not live up to my expectations, but she did manage to be the only one to bring a sense of cheeriness and fun to the occasion.  Amal Clooney looked damned classy and striking in a great gown (with a certain Anjelina-Jolie ambiance).  However the gloves end up detracting from ensemble.

We Made and Effort

These people looked like they at least made an effort to have some pizazz or personality.  It's a half-hearted effort, but in a crowd of boring solid colors and jewel-tone I guess that I have got to take what I can get.  Kate Mara wore a belt!  Rosamund Pike went for the elegant, yet risque.  Emma Stone wore a jumpsuit and attached some fancy satin to it.

We made more of an effort (but it didn't pay off).

It seems like efforts were made to be fashionable in these cases, but something went awry.  The traditionally flawless Kiera Knightley chose an awesome butterfly-and-feather print but went overboard with the ruffles (although she nearly pulls it off, no?) while what on earth happened to Tina Fey's hemline?  Kerry Washington looks fine, but wears an architectural gown that doesn't live up to its aspirations.

Good Ole Glam

At least we can rely on Jane Fonda and Jessica Chastain to bring the high wattage glam.  These two look stunning.  Quvenzhane Wallis also looks fancy and delightful.

. . .

Most Disappointing

I have got to award Diane Kruger and Felicity Jones this superlative.  These ladies are usually the queen of a lovely, understated style, but they seemed to have been caught in the same boring mode brought by everyone else this time.  Also Kelly Osborne; she usually looks super fierce.

British People Bringing It

I have to mention these awesome British ladies for still bringing the style even though they got cut out from most of the arrivals lists because they are not famous enough: Ruth Wilson (WINNER!), Sophie Hunter--- bringing the prints, and Amelia Warner looking SO stylish.
